BT's helped roll out the red carpet at Thursday night's world premiere ofTara Road as the stars dazzled at the Savoy on O'Connell Street in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation.
For once the leading players of the Noel Pearson-produced movie actually made the trip to Dublin. The drop-dead gorgeous Andie McDowell is indeed 'worth it' - she arrived in a stunning hour-glass black evening gown by designer Louise Kennedy. With a plunging deep V-back, the beautiful black-rose silk gown showed off a figure that any woman would die for! Louise herself looked amazing and was delighted that Andy had also selected one of her designs for last night'sLate Late Show. Other stars to step onto the red carpet included Iain Glen and of course our very own Maeve Binchy, who got to play a small part in the movie adapted from her book.
The glamour stakes were high as guests including Buena Vista's Trish Long, Jane Darby of the Jack and Jill Foundation as well as it's founders Jonathan Irwin and Mary Anne O'Brien arrived for a night with the stars - the charity was the grateful beneficiary of the evening. BT's kindly sponsored the event, and its marketing director Moira Murphy looked great in black and white.
Producer Noel Pearson, who arrived with partner Rosemary Roche, chatted with good pal Dr Paddy Boland from Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. Paddy, who hails from Monasterevin, Co Kildare, is recognised as one of the world's top cancer orthopedic surgeons, though his amazingly friendly and down-to-earth manner belies the esteem in which he is held internationally. Eamon Dunphy and Jane Gogan, Dr Tony Ryan, property tycoon Johnny Ronan, and wife of EU Commissioner Noleen McCreevy all joined in the craic at the terrific party in Dublin Castle afterwards.
BLACK MAGIC AT HARVEY NICKS When poacher turns game-keeper - in this case the ultimate party animal Paddy Bollard becomes event organiser - then a major knees up is guaranteed. And it was a pure Bellagio moment on Wednesday night: Las Vegas came to the Dundrum Centre as the glitterati gathered for the official opening of Harvey Nichols.
Black magic ruled, with 99.9% of the guests wearing the season's 'in' colour. Kevin and Rose Kelly were impressed with the store and there was quite a stir about the announcement earlier in the day that Melanie Morris will be the new editor ofImage. Sarah McDonnell, who resigned the top mag job last week looked knockout, as did her sister Jane. Gary Kavanagh, Ronan Ryan and Catherine Ryan were in a huddle with singer Brian Kennedy.
