BANK of Ireland Asset Management (BIAM) has been dealt a further blow with the loss of one of its most senior executive directors, Ronan Smith.
His pending departure follows the loss of Jennifer Byron, an investment manager who is joining F&C Asset Management in London, and the sudden departure of Ciaran ONeill, who had joined from Fidelity in the US as a director with responsibility in managing global equities, only months previously. Mr Smith's departure is much more significant, however.
He has been with BIAM for more than 20 years, most recently as head of its passive asset management business in Ireland, an area of the business he is most closely identified with.
