Advertising Standards Authority CRANKING UP Most complaints aren't worth a second look Concerned citizens or cranks? The latest annual report of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) shows that the number of private consumers complaining about local advertisements has grown by more than 30% since 2001. Last year alone it increased 17%.
Despite the ASA welcoming this increase as consistent with the maintenance of high advertising standards, it is of concern that only 11,5% were upheld. More than half 56% didn't even merit investigation.
