DENNIS EVANGELISTA CALLED ME from out of the blue: Could I please hold an acting workshop, he asks? Since I like the this erstwhile scriptwriter cum production manager, I entertain his request. Direk Elwood Perez asked me to call you, Dennis explains.
So, why at the last minute? Who stood you up, I asked? Ana Valdes Lim held a previous workshop, but couldnt make it this time around. Since I respect Ana, a fine theater professional I worked with in Honolulu in 1991, I asked Dennis for pertinent details.
Attitude
After tracing Ana to Assumption, I asked what had been taken up with the group. I didnt want to repeat anything, after all. After she indicated that she had not worked enough on focus and group effort, I asked her about the general attitude of the group. After all, the participants included film bombshells Katherine Luna, Avi Siwa, Belinda Bright, and Allen Dizon, a hunk who has appeared in over 50 sex-oriented films.
I was not eager to involve myself in anything stressful. To my surprise, Ana was very encouraging. So, I finally said yes.
