THE UAAP BOARD CAME DOWN HARD ON ERRING LA Salle assistant team manager Manny Salgado, banning him from the leaguefor lifefor assaulting Far Eastern U superstar Arwind Santos after Thursdays Game 1 of the UAAP finals.
After due deliberation [yesterday] the UAAP board of trustees... decided to perpetually ban Mr. Manny Salgado from personally watching all UAAP sports competitions in all the venues thereof, the board statement said. This decision shall take effect immediately.
The board reached the unanimous decision en banc during an emergency meeting yesterday.
The board condemns in the strongest term possible the actuations and conduct of Mr. Salgado in hitting [Santos], the statement also read.
Thats [the boards] prerogative, Salgado said after learning of his punishment. They can do that. But I think thats too harsh. Not being able to sit on the bench, I can take. But not being able to watch the games anymore is something else.
