VALENCIA CITYTHE LUZON/VISA-yas All-Stars completed a two-game sweep of their Mindanao counterparts with a 96-91 victory Thursday in the 2005 National Basketball Conference All-Stars at the city gym.
Mindanao was ahead, 49-48, at the turn, but the Luz/Vi cagers grabbed the upper hand in the final half behind the steady quarterbacking of Marlon Kalaw, Maui Huelar and Ronald Bucao.
Kalaw and Huelar dished out nine assists apiece while Bucao had eight and also tallied four straight points midway through the payoff period when Mindanao threatened at 82-70.
Valencias Julius Navales, Nat Cruz and Eliazar Berami sparked Mindanaos rally, which was doused by Bucao and Tribu Sugbu player Marvin Mercado.
