THE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWDOWN between defending champion Jolet Jao of Shell Advanced-Kawasaki and arch rival Benjo Mendoza of Speedeffex comes to an exciting climax today in the final races of the 2005 Shell Advance Superbikes Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Jao, who is eyeing his ninth Superbikes plum, leads the overall race with 221 points in this series sanctioned by the National Motorcycles Sports and Safety Association (Namssa) and sponsored by Pilipinas Shell, Kilton Motors, Yokohama and Denso.

But at the rate he is going, the young Mendoza could still pull the rug from under Jao down the wire.
