ALAMINOS CITYAFTER 65 YEARS, the Hundred Islands National Park (HINP) has been returned to its rightful owner, the people of this city, during the formal management turnover of the countrys first national park by the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) to the Alaminos government on Thursday.
President Macapagal-Arroyo signed on June 21 Executive Order No. 436 that transferred the management, administration and maintenance of the HINP to the city government.
With the transfer, the city government will have full control over the park, the Lucap Bay and its foreshore areas.
PTA General Manager Robert Dean Barbers and Mayor Hernani Braganza led the turnover ceremonies held at the Lucap Wharf. The event was witnessed by officials from different government agencies, Japanese and local journalists and residents.
