AFTER BEING RAPPED ONCE MORE BY THE MTRCB, Pinoy Big Brother has been strongly defended by ABS-CBN on some of its other shows. Weve listened to the defenders arguments, and can sum them up as follows:
After the first warning from the MTRCB, the show has been following the boards guidelines, so it does not agree that new violations have been made.
No negative effect
It isnt true that, as its critics charge, the show has a negative effect on viewers, especially the impressionable youth. The show is aired at 10 p.m. Only a few young children should be awake at that time. In any case, the show has a parental guidance warning, so parents should supervise their kids choice of viewing fare.
It also isnt true that the program is being made controversial to boost its ratings. It simply wants to show the totoong buhay in the Philippines today, to provoke a healthy discussion, so conservatives will face up to the countrys social realities.
