Byline: Cynthia D. Balana
FORMER PRESIDENT AQUINO YESTERDAY said the fate of her familys 5,000-hectare Hacienda Luisita would not affect her wish to see President Macapagal-Arroyo out of office.
Speaking at the Miriam College where she heard Mass, Aquino finally broke her silence on Hacienda Luisita and other major issues besetting the Arroyo administration.
Aquino said she was not surprised that the Cojuangco family-owned 5,000-hectare agricultural estate was being dragged yet again into the countrys politics.
The former President and Ms Arroyo parted ways two months ago after Aquino joined calls for Ms Arroyo to resign because of allegations that she cheated to win in 2004.
To underscore the point that Cory Aquino should start behaving in a politically correct manner, the Hacienda Luisita was resurrected, a familiar refrain from the years of the Marcos dictatorship, Aquino told a gathering of students and faculty members.
