TALK N TEXT CAGER Jimmy Alapag was both pleased and puzzled when a group of Pinoy fans in Taipei approached him for his autograph. He was surprised because the fans wanted his autograph written on a replica of his jersey which they had bought.
Jimmy wondered who had sold the jerseys. Could it be somebody from the TNT coaching staff? Earlier, he had noticed a big box being brought into the venue by the utility boys on the order of this official. The boys said it contained uniform jerseys of Jimmy and Asi Taulava.
Over the weekend, Princess Galura of PBA Properties received a letter of complaint from Sheryl Reyes, Jimmys sponsorship agent, reporting the unauthorized sale of the jerseys. Sheryl copy-furnished PBA commissioner Noli Eala and TNT officials.
Technically, theres nothing illegal about the sale, Sheryl said. The point is, this assistant coach did it without delicadeza and in utter disrespect of Jimmy and Asi who were not even given the courtesy of being informed of his business plan.
And the way the jerseys were being peddled, nakakahiya. Parang palengke. Meron pang hawkers.
