COTABATO CITYTHE MORO ISLAMIC LIBERA-tion Front (MILF) yesterday said three of the four men arrested in North Cotabato on suspicion of being Jemaah Islamiyah members are actually members of the rebel group.
On Wednesday, government forces manning a mobile checkpoint in Barangay Manuangan in Pigcawayan town arrested Kasan Datukon, 29; Abdulsalam Salik, 25; Sohudin Danda, 29, and Omar Bantas, 30.
An improvised bomb with a cell phone as a trigger device was also recovered from one of the suspects.
Senior Insp. Raulito Suyom, Pigcawayan police chief, said investigation showed the suspects boarded a jeep bound for Cotabato City.
He said Datukon, who was carrying the black backpack containing the explosivea 60-mm mortar shell fitted with a cell phone as a triggerinitially sat in the front seat with the bag between his legs.
Upon reaching the village after Matilak, Datukon offered his seat to an old man and moved to the roof of the vehicle.
