Wednesday was a highly successful day for clubs from West Asia as they scored handsome wins over rival clubs from the east to virtually assure themselves of a berth in the AFC Champions League final.

While hosts Al Ain exploded with a 6-0 win over China's Shenzhen Jianlibao, reigning champions Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia stunned Busan I'Park 5-0 in their away match.

Al Ain travel to Shenzhen while Ittihad host Busan on October 12.

"It is a giant step towards the final, but we have not yet qualified," said an elated Al Ain coach Milan Macala after his team thrilled the home …
