Former Englewood lawyer gets jail for DUI; Thomas McLennon had once represented Englewood agencies and the city of Punta Gorda.(B SECTION)

PUNTA GORDA -- Thomas P. McLennon, a former Englewood lawyer whose career representing local public agencies ended after two DUI arrests, pleaded no contest Thursday to charges stemming from a 2003 accident.

County Judge Peter Bell accepted the plea and sentenced McLennon to 10 days in the Charlotte County jail and a year of probation. McLennon, who said little during the brief hearing, was then fingerprinted in the courtroom and escorted by deputies to jail.

McLennon will have to pay nearly $2,000 in fines and court costs resulting from the November 2003 accident, in which police said he rear-ended …
