Sep. 30--Tesco, the leading hypermarket chain based in the United Kingdom, will invest at least 7.5 billion baht in its Thai operation next year, the same level as this year, provided that the revised law on retail zoning is favourable to its business.
The investment will be made in all four of the existing retail formats in Thailand -- hypermarkets, Tesco Lotus Express, Value Store and Talad Lotus, according to Jeff Adams, chief executive of Ek-Chai Distribution System Co, the operator of Tesco Lotus hypermarkets.
