The abuse of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is on the rise in Bhutan. This was one of the observations made by the National Committee for Control of Narcotic and Psychotropic substances when they met in the capital Thimphu on Tuesday, 17 May.

The committee was formed last year to address growing problem of substance abuse. Committee members said nightclubs and pool rooms, which have mushroomed especially in the capital, are contributing to the rising trend in substance abuse.
