SEOUL, May 16 Asia Pulse - South Korea will conduct a broad geological survey of Dokdo to ensure the safety of visitors to the volcanic outcroppings in the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan, the government said Monday.
The survey will be carried out on the eastern islet where a large fissure has raised concerns for the safety, not only of tourists, but also of people using the islet as a fishing base, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries said.
"Experts will focus on areas where most tourists visit and where the contingent of policemen guarding the island from encroachments is stationed," a ministry official said. …
