Although 75% of medical malpractice rulings are against the plaintiffs, medical professionals believe the number of lawsuits will increase strongly soon. In Buenos Aires' public hospitals, lawsuits against obstetricians ranked at 26%, followed by surgeons (25%), traumatologists (14%) and pediatricians (10%). Argentine doctors consider that the number of "ambulance chasers" are few, and believe increased lawsuits will lower the quality of patient care.
