KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) -- Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) registered a profit after tax and minority interest (PATAMI) of RM374.5 million for the first quarter ended 30 March 2005, down from RM507.1 million registered in the corresponding period of last year.

The lower profits were attributed to the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) one-off compensation payout of RM145.4 million as well as the absence of contribution from the investment in Telkom South Africa that contributed RM87.5 million in the first quarter of 2004, it said in a statement here today.
