Banjul, Gambia (PANA) - Motivated by mouth-watering cash promise and a partisan home crowd, Gambia's Baby Scorpions Sunday lifted the sixth African Under-17 football Cup after beating Ghana 1-0 in the final played at the Independence Stadium here.

Host nation's captain Ousman Sonko scored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute.

After the victory, a delighted President Yahya Jammeh, who had promised the boys some 36,000 US dollars for a win over Ghana, and about 3,700 dollars for each goal scored, came on stage to present the trophy to the Baby Scorpions.
