A government source yesterday dismissed as "ridiculous" a demand by the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) that former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif be allowed to return to Pakistan.

"One left the country of her own sweet will while the other went to Saudi Arabia under an agreement by which he undertook to remain in exile for 10 years," said the source.
