SEOUL, April 25 (Yonhap) -- The top nuclear negotiators from South Korea and the United States discussed strategies for dealing with North Korea on Monday amid renewed tension over the communist state's nuclear arms drive.

The meeting between U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill and South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Song Min-soon followed recent revelations that North Korea has stopped operation of a key nuclear reactor in an apparent attempt to harvest plutonium from spent fuel rods for atomic bombs.
