TOKYO, May 17 Asia Pulse - Kakaku.com Inc. (TSE:2371), which operates price comparison Web sites, said Monday that it would shut down its sites for about a week due to unauthorized access from outside.

"We will seek the advice of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and other experts on how to revamp our operational system to prevent a recurrence," President Yoshiteru Akita told a news conference.

The sites are expected to be up and running again by next Monday. The shutdown of Kakaku.com's sites is an unusual move, given that they are the sole source of its earnings.
