Wellington, Sept 27 NZPA - A police criminal profiling unit that deals with sexual assault is to be brought into the investigation of the murder of German hitchhiker Birgit Brauer.
Inquiry boss Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Coward, of New Plymouth police, also said today that the killing could be linked to a stolen vehicle.
Ms Brauer, 28, was last seen getting into a vehicle at Waitotara, 34km northwest of Wanganui, about 9.30am last Tuesday. She died from multiple injuries, including significant head injuries and a stab wound to the chest.
