There was a time when no one wanted to be called "smart aleck" or "smarty pants." Those were pejorative terms meant to knock the know-it-all down a peg or two. Today, there's no such thing as being too smart. We even have smartphones--or smart devices--but even they can't be simply smart. They have to be fun, too!

No, it's not enough that a cell phone labor 24/7 as personal information manager, e-mail envoy, Web wrangler and IM emissary, this smart device must now function as gamemaster, musicmeister and pint-size TV. The message and the mission: "Let me entertain you!"

Cutting Edge Entertainment

SmartVideo Technologies, whose television solutions deliver sharp video images with fully synched audio for broadcast to video-enabled cell phones and other handheld devices via current and next-gen cellular and Wi-Fi systems, is putting the E! in entertainment.

SmartVideo's recent pairings with E! Entertainment Television and Fun Little Movies have put it on the cutting edge of cool. Both E! Entertainment and FLM will be part of SmartVideo's basic package, which also includes news, weather and sports, for as low as $12.95 per month. The company will also launch the first free, completely ad-supported mobile TV network featuring music videos (streaming, not downloaded) from today's top artists through a partnership with Digital Music Video Network.

SmartVideo subscribers can get the basics from E! News, a daily entertainment news and information program, but the truly celebrity-crazed, will be able to dial into "The Awful Truth," hosted by E!'s Ted Casablanca, and never miss another awards show or movie premier because "Red Carpet Moments" will keep them celebrity smart.
