New Delhi, Sep 25 (PTI) With the number of children vulnerable to catching polio drastically falling, the Federal government on Sunday hoped to cut down the tranmission of polio virus to zero level by the end of 2005.

"All indications are that we should be able to declare zero transmission by the end of this year," officials said.

Virus survival is difficult with only one per cent of children remaining who have received less than three doses of the oral vaccine, they said.

Besides a decline in the vulnerable children, the virus has also been limited to specific geographical areas, the officials said.
