Cancer tests now mandatory for armed forces.

NEW DELHI: All armed forces personnel will now be screened for cancer during their annual medical examination.

An order to this effect, by the directorgeneral of Armed Forces Medical Services Admiral V K Singh, has been dispatched to the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard chiefs. The Indian Cancer Society was instrumental in persuading AFMS to take this decision. A K Vaid and H Chaturvedi from the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre had also advised Admiral Singh on what types of screening should be carried out.
