Election Reform: Carter-Baker's Risky Scheme
After the 2000 election, the National Commission on Federal Election Reform, cosponsored by The Century Foundation and co-chaired by former presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford, conducted a massive fact-finding mission and led a national discussion to produce a report that led to important election reform. The 2004 elections made clear that there was more work needed to improved elections, so a new commission was formed.
