Intel Corp. last week announced new 386SL processors that further increase power savings by operating at 3.3 volts.

"The closest thing that it can compete against from AMD will be the 3.3-volt 386SXLV," said Dean McCarron, vice president of technology at In-Stat Inc. of Scottsdale, Arizona.
