The number of female students attending college continued to grow while the number of male students remained steady, according to recent reports from the National Center for Education Statistics. Female students increased by about 240,000 from 2002 to 2003, from 56.9% of students to 57.4%.

Financial aid is also up. In 2002-2003, 52% of students received one or more federal grants, up from 46% the previous year. Nearly 75% of undergrads at for-profit schools received grants in 2002-2003, compared ...
