Sep. 21--Results from the Kentucky accountability test show that, while many schools made leaps in achievement, others suffered great dips.
Nearly 45 percent of state public schools improved their scores on the Commonwealth Accountability Testing System this year, with 41 schools scoring above 100 out of 140, according to data released today.
Of those schools, Fayette County had three schools that surpassed 100 and landed on the list of top state schools as a result of their performance on CATS. But four Fayette schools also landed on the list of lowest performing schools.
"Of course we want to continue to get more and more schools in the top 10," said Superintendent Stu Silberman. "Any time that we can have any school that is breaking 100 we're meeting our goals ... the schools that are in the bottom 10, what we're going to do is see how we can provide more support to them to move them up in student achievement."
