There are two key incentive packages to motivate teachers to teach in deprived areas. They are study leave with pay and the programme for the distribution of household and electrical appliances to teachers in deprived areas at reduced prices.
This statement was made by the Education and Sports minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo, when he answered a question in parliament on whether his ministry had assessed whether the incentive package programme to motivate teachers to work in the rural areas is effective and if not, what alternative plans his ministry had to solve the problem.
