GOVERNMENT has released K25 billion to the Local Government and Housing ministry for payment of retirement and retrenchment packages for council employees.

Local Government and Housing Minister Sylvia Masebo said yesterday that Government had also released a further K10 billion as a general grant allocated to all councils as approved in the 2005 national Budget.

Mrs Masebo said the K25 billion would be for payment of terminal benefits of workers who had already retired or had been retrenched but were not paid.

She said only workers whose names would appear on the validated schedules to be submitted to her …
