GAINESVILLE -- Florida coach Urban Meyer found out a lot about the toughness of his team Saturday night. The Gators imposed their will mentally and physically late in the game to beat Tennessee despite struggling offensively much of the night.

It was a big win in Meyer's first test in the Southeastern Conference and the defensive players, in particular, made a statement the way they shut down the Vols.

While Meyer saw a lot of positives, he also has some major concerns. He is perplexed that the offense has failed to hit its stride and now he has to deal with a pair of devastating injuries, one on each side of the ball.

Wide receiver Andre Caldwell broke his right leg. He had surgery Sunday and is lost for the season. Defensive end Ray McDonald could also be gone for …
