When asked whether a share split would be considered at Continental AG, the German tyre and automotive component group, if the share price were to increase further, management board chairman Manfred Wennemer said that this was a step worth considering. The price reached a historic high on Monday. To the question as to whether the company could fall prey to US manufacturers, he replied that he knew of no US component manufacturer able to finance a takeover estimated at around 15bn euros.
