STRONG advertising revenues and the sale of its stake in iTouch have helped Independent News & Media report a pre-tax profit of 140m for the first half of 2005, up 80pc on last year.
Overall group turnover rose by nearly 10pc to 800m in the first six months of the year and leaving aside one-off gains and costs, Independent's operating profit from worldwide operations came in at 141m, a solid 12.4pc higher than last year.
