Line-up for Lanterman
THEY lined up to pay tribute to former Holland America Line boss Kirk Lanterman as he became the latest in a line dating back to 1951 to be named Puget Sound Maritime Person of the Year for 2005.
First up for Lanterman, who headed Holland America Line from 1983 to 2004, was US Senator Patty Murray, who labelled him 'a true innovator and icon in the cruise industry'.
On hand to pay tribute, too, was Lanterman's successor Stein Kruse, who declared: 'Kirk Lanterman has an exemplary track record of increasing and protecting local jobs, forging tourism partnerships between Seattle and the Pacific …
