Sydney, Sept 14 NZPA - Unheralded Christchurch-born Melbourne Storm forward Glen Turner is close to securing his short-term future at the National Rugby League (NRL) club.

Turner, who has spent five years in the NRL's southern outpost, expects to sign a one-year deal after the Storm's sudden death semifinal against North Queensland here at Aussie Stadium on Saturday night.

The 26-year-old second rower, buoyed at his elevation to the starting lineup in place of Ryan Hoffman, has been in limbo for several months as negotiations with management dragged on.
