Seoul, 14 September: The South Korean National Assembly on Wednesday [14 September] approved President Roh Moo-hyun's nominee to the head of the Supreme Court.

The assembly voted 212 to 61, with three abstentions and one vote declared void, to confirm the appointment of the president's former defence lawyer as the chief justice of the country's highest court.
