By comparing 9/11 with Katrina, Bush is deflecting criticism of his inept leadership

President George W. Bush continues to hijack the pain and suffering of 9/11 for his own domestic reasons. Iraq was invaded on the fraudulent basis of 9/11 when it was obvious that Saddam Hussain had nothing to do with the attacks.

The havoc wrought by Hurricane Katrina is the latest event to be compared to the atrocities of four years ago. Evoking the spirit of defiance that marked the United States then, Bush has linked Katrina and 9/11.
