Sep. 13--Most employers in the Richmond area seem to be cautiously optimistic about the economic outlook for the fourth quarter of 2005, according to a survey.

Manpower Inc., a Wisconsin-based staffing firm, predicted a "positive" job market for the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical area in the October-December period, but the firm noted that businesses are more restrained in their hiring plans when compared with the same period in 2004.

In Manpower's survey, which was conducted before Hurricane Katrina, 17 percent of Richmond-area companies interviewed said they plan to hire more employees in the fourth quarter, while 7…
