AT INTRA, WE BELIEVE THAT A BUILDING'S INTERIOR IS AS IMPORTANT as its exterior. We want to celebrate the best interior spaces wherever they are, and we begin this month with projects in Nairobi, New York, Gothenburg and Cork. In all four the architect also designed the interior, but of course this isn't always the case, and Intra recognises that a collaborative approach can often be better than a single vision.

Nowhere is this more true than in the area of lighting design (see page 46). Everyone knows that good lighting enhances a building, but few architects are prepared to admit that it's only the specialist skills that can deliver this: lighting isn't simply a finish that can be applied at the end.
