Democrats criticize Garrett's vote against relief measure.

Sep. 9--Rep. Scott Garrett's vote against the $51.8 billion aid package for the Gulf Coast states drew fire from Democrats on Friday.

Garrett, R-Wantage, was one of 11 members of the House of Representatives who voted against the largest government appropriation for a natural disaster.

The bill passed the House 410-11 on Thursday and President Bush praised the bipartisan support before signing it into law.

"New Jersey families sent Congressman Scott Garrett to Washington to represent their values and compassion in Congress," said Bill Burton, communications director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. …
