(From Hull Daily Mail)
Even with an under strength side Hull Kingston Rovers proved too strong by beating Bradford Dudley Hill 64-14 in their Northern Rail Cup qualifying game.
The National League Three side gave it their all against the might of the Robins even to the point of taking an 8-0 lead.
But the Robins went into this game on the back of a four match unbeaten league run and were always going to be a class above.
Nick Pinkney had been given the coaching reins by Harvey Howard for the full week prior to this game and proved a worthy replacement. There were plenty of team changes and although Pinkney was happy with the result the performance wasn't as he would have like in this no win situation.
Pinkney told the Mail: "Even though we put a lot of points on them I thought with a little bit more composure at times we'd have done things better.
"We did some pretty good things but we did some pretty poor things as well. You have to be happy with the performance and happy with the win as we were on a hiding to nothing. It would have been easy to get carried away when we went 8-0 down but I knew we could rely on our speed and quick play the ball and we came through in the end.
