ISALMABAD, September 07 (PPI) emphasizing the important role of literacy plays in social development, the Secretary General United Nations Kofi Annan has called for increasing the literacy rate world over.

In his message in line with the International Literacy Day, falling on Thursday (today), he said the theme of International Literacy Day is the role of literacy in sustainable development.
