Sep. 9--CAT Telecom plans to open direct talks with the Hong Kong-based Hutchison Group for a joint business plan ahead of the soft launch of the nationwide coverage of its CDMA mobile-phone service next year.
CAT Telecom would invite Li Ka Shing, the billionaire founder of the Hutchison Whampoa trading group, to help conclude the long-overdue CDMA deal, on which no progress has been made with the Bangkok-based Hutchison office, said Amnuaysak Toonsiri, vice-chairman of the CAT Telecom board.
