Sep. 9--With Hong Kong Disneyland poised to open on Monday, Thai policymakers say they will develop five similar tourist "magnets" to help maintain the country's appeal in the region.
Pracha Maleenont, the tourism and sports minister, said the attractions, one of which would be the Chiang Mai Night Safari, would all be positioned to draw international tourists.
"We should concentrate the budget on the development of major tourist attractions in each region of the country. Such major attractions will then become effective magnets that can draw international tourists," Mr Pracha said.
