SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The Community Technology Foundation of California (CTFC) ZeroDivide Fellows will meet with key policy makers in Sacramento on May 2 through May 4. ZFellows will engage in discussions with California legislators on the impact of information and communications technology (ICT) on underserved communities throughout the state.
A reception to meet and interview ZeroDivide Fellows will be held on Monday, May 2, 2005 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Sheraton Grand Hotel, Camellia Room at 1230 J Street in Sacramento.
"The Fellowship program increases the capacity of leaders in California to promote social justice through the use of ICT," said CTFC Director of Policy and Leadership Laura Efurd. "The ZFellows will be conducting an in-depth, behind the scenes look at how policy is made and how to be effective advocates for their communities."
"The ZFellows are a diverse group of community leaders who are shaping the field of community technology," said CTFC President and CEO Tessie Guillermo.
"Underserved communities such as low-income, minority, immigrants, disabled, limited-English-speaking, rural and inner city populations face significant barriers to technology access and relevant content," added Ms. Guillermo. "The ZFellows represent a movement of technology users who can transform information into action."
