SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD) was awarded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 Seventh Annual Environmental Award for improving agricultural air quality in the San Joaquin Valley. CARCD's Air Quality Planner and Coordinator, Ron Harben, was specially recognized for his involovement.

Harben led a collective effort that improved the understanding and reduction of agricultural dust and particulate matter, commonly referred to as PM 10 emissions, which are generated by the very nature of producing food and fiber crops. He worked closely with San Joaquin farmers, the 8 …
