Hull City believe they would have won League One this season if Ben Burgess had been in the team on a regular basis.
The big centre forward made an emotional 20-minute return from a career-threatening knee injury in front of a record-breaking league crowd at the KC Stadium on Saturday.
Burgess wasn't able to prevent Peter Taylor's Tigers from sliding to a last-gasp 2-1 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday in their last home game of the campaign.
However, City are confident Burgess will make a massive impact in the Coca-Cola Championship next season after putting a nightmare last 12 months behind him.
Taylor did not appear at Saturday's press conference, but assistant Colin Murphy said: "If Ben had been fit all year, we might have won the league.
